The need for technology and high-quality custom software has continued to explode over the last few years, especially after the pandemic, so the need for new talent in the tech world continues to grow. To help educate emerging college students on potential software and web development career paths, Wide Open Tech will be featured in an upcoming College Career Fest event for Brunswick County Schools. The Center of Applied Science and Technology (COAST) will be hosting the college readiness event in Brunswick County on February 24 to encourage both middle school and high school students’ interest in technology-related fields of study.

Many local area businesses will have booths at the event, including High Tide Aviation, ATMC, Brunswick Electric, Cape Fear Solar Systems, and Wide Open Technologies. Members from these businesses will help answer student questions about industry job opportunities, salary potential in various fields, benefits, and educational requirements.

In addition to local business participation, representatives from many local universities and colleges will also be in attendance to guide students through the application and enrollment process. Participating organizations include:

  • NC State University
  • Campbell University
  • Johnson & Wales University
  • UNC-Wilmington
  • Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics
  • NC Central University
  • East Carolina University
  • Brunswick Community College
  • Wayne Community College

During the event, students will filter through the business and college booths with ample time to explore and ask questions. Some of the high schools and middle schools that will attend include North Brunswick High School, West Brunswick High School, Leland Middle School, Cedar Grove Middle School, and more. The Wide Open Tech team is excited to send some of our key technology team members to this event to help guide students on their coming career journeys in the software and web world!

The event will be held at the Center of Applied Science and Technology on Thursday, February 24 at 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 1109 Old Ocean Highway, Bolivia, NC 28422.
