The Greater Wilmington Business Journal Builds a custom management software
The client
SAJ Media is an online publication brand based out of Wilmington, NC. The brand is behind the Greater Wilmington Business Journal, WILMA Magazine, Fayetteville Business Journal, and Good Life Wilmington. With so many publications under their belts to manage, the team at SAJ Media was looking for a centralized digital solution that would help streamline their operations across all publications, while also creating consistency among processes related to customer subscriptions, ads management, and content publishing across publications.

The challenge
SAJ Media needed a custom application that they could utilize to manage all of their online publications. Using a Laravel framework, AWS hosting, and Amazon S3 for file storage, we were able to create a centralized dashboard with extensive features. Some features that were highly important to SAJ Media included ad placement and sponsored content, as well as how the software would serve such ads throughout the website’s front end. Additionally, custom email templates that could serve unique ads based on the subscription tier had a high priority.

The RESULTS
The custom web application Wide Open Tech built from scratch is fully integrated with Stripe as the payment gateway that manages recurring subscription payments for customers. Subscribers can log into their account to manage their subscription. On the backend, admin users have the ability to build ad campaigns and select which areas of the online publication will serve ads. Admin users can also publish both non-sponsored and sponsored content from the backend, as well as manage users, emails, and business directories.
